International Art Award Winner 2nd Grader Jasmine De Baris

We are bursting with pride for Short Avenue third grader, Jasmine De Baris who was honored with a silver medal in the 28th Annual Children’s Art Competition presented by the Mokichi Okada Association Museum of Art in Japan at our morning assembly on Friday, June 5. She earned her medal in the international competition for her work entitled, Mother’s Beach, which she created last year as a second grader. Ron Kato, Executive Director, MOA Wellness  presented the silver medal award to Jasmine and  Len Nguyen, Senior Field Deputy, City of Los Angeles presented her with a certificate of appreciation from the City of Los Angeles.

The MOA Museum of Art Children’s Painting Exhibition is Japan’s most prestigious children’s art competition. In Japan, nearly 40% of  all elementary schools participate. Jasmine’s artwork was selected from over 500,000 submissions.
