On Friday, November 3rd, 2017, Short Avenue Elementary was awarded the “Big Check” for $10,000 from the LAUSD Summer Reading Challenge. We had 16 students enter and Luna Vargas is TK was randomly picked, making our school the winner. We also received a visit from Best Selling Author Amy Ephron, who gave a special presentation to our 5th and 6th graders about her book The Castle in The Mist. We think she inspired a few budding writers among the students! It was a tremendous day and we can’t wait to buy lots of books for our library!!
