Happy Birthday marquee

Happy Birthday Marquee!

Wish your child “Happy Birthday” on the Marquee!

Happy Birthday marquee

What a treat to make your child’s birthday even more special to see their name and birthday wishes floating in lights across the Short Avenue marquee!

Please complete the marquee birthday form located in the front office and submit $20 cash or check (payable to FoSA). Allow at least one week prior to event. We recommend submitting your information two-four weeks prior to the birthday. Our birthday marquee coordinator is Na’ama Levy.

ANNUAL GIVING

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! As many of you know, the Annual Giving Drive is by far our largest fundraiser for the entire school year.

What’s the Annual Giving Drive goal?

This year, our Annual Giving Drive goal is to raise $50,000 with 100% participation from our Short Avenue community. Whether you can give $5 or $5,000, we want our families to know we are in this together. We are a Title 1 School, so giving what you can for those who cannot is important, gracious and appreciated beyond words. It benefits ALL our children, and your donation is 100% tax deductible.

Where does the money go?

These are just a few of the programs funded by FoSA. By contributing any dollar amount you can, you are helping to make a difference in our children’s future.

Planet Bravo – $28,500 Teacher Aides – $24,000
Spanish Music Program – $20,000 Two Field trip buses per grade – $7,000

How much should I give?

Below are the suggested dollar amounts that the nearby schools are requesting per child: Coeur d’Alene – $1,250; Walgrove – $1,200; Mar Vista – $1,200; Beethoven – $1500

We are asking each family to consider a donation of $750 per child + $250 for each sibling; however, any amount is welcomed.

Thank you for your support and your involvement! Here’s to a wonderful year!

** We would like to note that FoSA incurs a fee for credit card donations (4.1% for AMEX; 2.8% for all others). Please consider using a check or Zelle so all of your money goes to our school. To use Zelle, log in to your bank website and transfer money to friendsofshortavenue@gmail.com.**

Short Avenue Elementary Follett Book Fair

The Book Fair is Here!

Follett Book Fair offers a wonderful selection of diverse reading material for students and their families. The Book Fair kicks off on Monday, March 18. Money earned from this Book Fair will go directly to enriching the educational experience of every student while also supporting Short Avenue’s Friends and Family library Media Center. Look for the Book Fair flyer in your child’s homework folder.

SCHEDULE
The Book Fair runs from Monday, March 18 through Friday, March 22 at 3:00pm. Students and teachers will preview the Fair on Friday, March 15. We are open during recess (10:20-10:45am) and after school daily for 1/2 hour, plus STEAM night and Food Truck Fiesta on Wednesday, March 20 from 5:00-6:30pm.

WANNA HELP?
Volunteer NowDo you have a spare hour to help us?  We could really use your assistance with our Book Fair. Please contact us for more information or to volunteer. Break-down is Friday, March 22, 3-4pm.

DID YOU KNOW…
All profits directly benefit every student at Short Avenue while also supporting the library. Our library needs major resources. More than half of our library collection is considered aged (with most books 30-40 years old) and prior to 2014 more than $25,000 in books were lost. We are 38% under the recommended amount of books for elementary school students. Every Book Fair purchase helps our students and our school!

This is a school-run Book Fair.
