We are excited to hold our second annual Jog-a-thon on May 23! It is sure to be loads of fun. While this event encourages health and fitness, it is also a splendid opportunity for families and friends to contribute to Short Avenue. Here is how it works: Each class will jog around a make-shift “track” to music with parents and teachers cheering wildly from the sidelines. Children can have friends and family sponsor them by lap or via a flat donation overall.
The classes will participate individually in 20 minute increments, starting with the Kindergartners at 8:20am. The event is scheduled to run all day, with breaks for lunch and recess. After the 20 minutes is completed, the children turn in their wristbands and receive a ribbon for participation.
We will need plenty of parent and family/community volunteers to help organize classes and log laps. Each class will be divided into four stations – red, blue, green and black – and we’ll need at least one volunteer at each station wearing a shirt in the color of their station to help log the children’s progress.
In addition to public recognition and participation ribbons, the top three fundraisers in each class will be recognized publically.
Please email Alicia Casilli if you are interested in participating.
Here is the Jog-a-thon Pledge Form.
All checks should be payable to: SHORT AVENUE ELEMENTARY.
