3rd - 5th Grade - Zine Club with Ms Levy
$225.00
Short Ave Zine Club 2026 (Newbies & Alums Welcome — 3rd–5th Grade)
Step into the creative world of zines (pronounced zeens) with Ms. Levy! Zines are small, handmade books or mini-magazines that celebrate self-expression, curiosity, and creativity.
For kids new to zine-making, we’ll start with the basics - folding a single sheet of paper into an 8-page book. Experienced zinesters will be able to jump right in from day one. We focus on the creative process, not perfection: exploring interests, working with mistakes, and turning everyday materials into something awesome.
Zine Club works best for kids who want to be there.
To help ensure this, we are asking each child to write (or tell me) a sentence or two about why they want to participate. This isn’t about skill - just interest and enthusiasm. Priority may be given to 5th graders if needed.
Who is Zine Club for?
Zine Club works best for kids who want to be there. Please make sure your child is excited about joining - this is a creative space, but they will also be expected to make things.
Application step:
To help ensure this is the right fit, please have your child write 1–2 sentences about why they want to join. (It doesn’t need to be formal.. just from them!). If they prefer to tell me verbally, that works too. Prompt ideas if you're stuck:
What do you like making - drawing, writing, comics, silly stuff, stories?
What Sounds fun about Zine Club?
Have you made a Zine before (you don't have to have!)
Do you like to make things with your hands?
Priority: may be given to 5th graders if needed.
Our session will culminate in Short Ave Zinefest #4. Students will choose a few of their favorite zines from the session, self-publish them using our school copier, fold and prep them, and then “table” at Zinefest - sharing and trading their creations with the school community.
This year’s Zinefest will be open to all interested kids, but Zine Club members will have dedicated support throughout the process.
